Rod J. Silva

A funeral for Rod J. Silva, 66, a Dayton resident for the past 27 years, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Silva died Jan. 4, 2004, in Carson City. He was born Jan. 4, 1938, in San Rafael, Calif., to John M. and Rose Antonio Silva.

Before moving to Dayton, he lived in Petaluma, Calif.

Mr. Silva was a truck driver for Cinderlite and the former owner/operator of the Dayton Shell.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Coast Guard.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Jan; and his father.

Among his survivors are his wife, Vera and stepson, Justin Scott Molnar, both of Dayton; daughters Bridgette Lori Silva and Nicole May Silva, both of Reno; godchildren Bridget Fricke and Lori Antonio, both of Petaluma, and Wendy Giovannoni of Grand Junction, Colo.; brothers Bob of Sonoma, Calif., and Walter of Windsor, Calif.; sisters Dorothy Vollmer of Shingle Springs, Calif., Nancy Scheiner of Arizona City, Ariz., and Carole Dickens of Sonoma; one grandson; and his mother of Petaluma.

Burial will be in the Dayton Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
