Sporting goods store opens in Reno plaza

A New Balance store has opened at 6137 S.

Virginia in Reno's Del Monte Plaza, and its owners plan a full-line sporting goods store next door.

The New Balance store, which carries athletic shoes and Dunham sportswear, is owned by Doug Simmons and Tom Huna.

They also own a New Balance store in Las Vegas.

Next to the 10,000-square-foot New Balance store, Simmons and Huna plan to open a Team Sports store.

That's a five-store sporting goods chain headquartered in California's Coachella Valley.

John Anderson is general manager of the New Balance store and will have the same responsibilities for the New Balance store.

He has more than 20 years experience in the retail sporting goods business in California and Arizona.
