A funeral for Arline Hayes, 68, a Carson City resident for the past 39 years, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Capitol Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hayes died July 22, 2004, at home. She was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Lovell, Wyo., to Henry and Mary Hoffman.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Riverton, Wyo.

Mrs. Hayes was a homemaker, and she sold Avon for 30 years. She was a very active member of Capitol Baptist Church. She was a member of the Emblem Club and Riding Club and active in the local Democratic Party. She enjoyed shopping, cooking for family and friends, and was an avid bowler in her younger years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, in 2001.

Among her survivors are her son, Michael of Dayton; daughters Barbara Thorson of Medford, Ore., and Mary Jo Chapman of Sparks; sisters Genevieve Pettit and Norma Taylor, both of Fallon; brothers Cecil Hoffman and Paul Hoffman, both of Carson City, and Dennis Hoffman of Gardnerville; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
