Leila 'Bee' Culbertson

Leila "Bee" Culbertson, 85, died June 16, 2004, at home. She was born Sept. 23, 1918, in San Francisco to Clarence and Elma Johns Ambrose.

She was raised in Carson City and graduated from Carson City High School in 1936.

She married Guy Culbertson in 1943 in Reno and moved to Santa Monica, Calif.

Mrs. Culbertson worked for the Civil Aeronautics Board in Santa Monica. She began working for the tax collector's offices in the 1950s in San Luis Obispo. In 1960, she began working at Pacific Gas & Electric, and remained there until she retired in 1981.

She was a Lady Lion, a member of the UpJohn Healthcare Services Advisory Committee from 1987 to 1989, a Phi Epsilon Phi Sorority board member (where she received sister of the year in 1986) and served on the board of directors of Laguna Mobile Estates.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998 and sisters Alberta Bedell and Marion Macgregor.

Among her survivors are her daughter and son-in-law Joan and Michael Stalnaker of San Luis Obispo; grandchildren Linda Parker of Oklahoma City, Robert Parker of San Luis Obispo, Gail Kessler of Virginia, Stefanie Granger of Templeton, Calif., and Ellen Henry of San Luis Obispo; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

At her request, there is no service.

Reis Family Mortuary and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements.
