BISHOP CREEK AREA, CALIF:

Gary Olson of the Bishop Creek Resorts (760-873-4484) reported:

Intake No. 2: Doing well with Power Bait or Stingers with a bobber.

Be sure to bring mosquito repellent.

North Lake: Getting stocked regularly with both Alpers Trophy Rainbow Trout and DF&G fish.

Results are good with Power Bait or nightcrawlers.

South Lake: The fishing remains very good.

Power Bait and nightcrawlers are great from shore, along with Thomas Buoyant lures.

Trolling with nightcrawlers or olive Matuka or Woolly Bugger flies has been great.

Weir Pond: Fly fishermen are getting real excited with the results at the pond and along the creek.

Bishop Creek: Nightcrawlers or Salmon eggs are doing extremely well. It doesn't get much better.

BISHOP CREEK AREA, CALIF:

Carolyn Webb of the Lake Sabrina Boat Landing (760-873-7425) reported:

Sabrina Lake: Bubblegum Power Worms have been the table staple of the day with nightcrawlers coming in a close second.

Lots of fish coming in from the last batch of Conway Ranch Rearing Facility, including a few "brownies" from last year.

BLUE LAKES, CALIF. AREA:

Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930) said that were light winds, good water and lots of fish being caught.

Limits of rainbows, up to 1-pound, at Upper Blue on inflated nightcrawlers or Power Bait.

Go prepared with plenty of repellent for mosquitoes.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR, CALIF: Rick Giser of Ken's Sporting Goods Store (760-932-7707) said, "It has been excellent for boats stillfishing with nightcrawlers, Power Bait or Power Eggs.

BURNSIDE LAKE, CALIF: Dave Kirby reported that Calif. DF&G will not plant the lake this year.

A fly fisherman caught and released a number of brook trout over the weekend.

CAPLES LAKE, CALIF: Dave Kirby said that there were light winds, good water conditions and lots of fish being caught.

EAST CARSON RIVER, CALIF:

Chad at the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229) reported fishing has been excellent, some of the best that he has ever seen. Monday, there was a 3-pound, 6-ounce rainbow taken on salmon eggs. Salmon eggs, worms or Power Bait are doing very well. All of the nearby lakes and streams are also doing very well.

WEST CARSON RIVER, CALIF: Dave Kirby reported good fishing action. The river was planted last Friday with 1,000 pounds of rainbows which included some trophy-sized fish.

Jose Soto of Carson City caught an 8.25 pound rainbow on Salmon eggs. Eight-year-old Ronnie Orzalli of Carson City caught his first-two fish (two rainbows) on nightcrawlers. He was with his brother Charles.

CATNIP RESERVOIR IN NORTHERN WASHOE COUNTY: Will open Sept. 1.

DAVIS LAKE, CALIF: Joe at the Grizzly Store and Resort (530-832-0270): "The fly fishing has been pretty good. There are Damsel flies, all over the place.

Trolling has been good with leadcore line and either Needlefish or Dick Nite lures.

Not many reports from the shore fishermen but they have been catching fish at Fairview Point."

EAGLE LAKE, CALIF: Dave Meserve of the Eagle Lake Marina (530-825-3454) reported the best action has been from Wildcat Point working north towards Pelican Point.

Trolling with Needlefish and other similar lures at about 10-30 feet seems to be producing the best results.

Stillfishing continues best using nightcrawlers under bobbers.

FEATHER RIVER AT OROVILLE, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero reported that he and his clients are catching nice chrome King Salmon, 12-20 pounds. Back-trolling with Flatfish lures, between Oroville and Gridley.

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR, CALIF: Wiggin's Trading Post at Chilcoot, Calif. (530-993-4683:

Trollers are doing well with minnow-type lures. Bank fishing off Big Cove, the Dam, Lunker Point and Turkey Point doing fair to good. Stream fishing is fair. Water is still running fast for irrigation. Some spots are OK.

GREEN CREEK, CALIF: Rick Giser said it has been doing very well for both bait fishermen and fly fishermen.

Lots of mosquitoes.

HEENAN LAKE, CALIF: Will open Sept. 3.

INDIAN CREEK RESERVOIR. CALIF: Dave Kirby said algae is beginning to form. No limits were reported but there was a 3-pound rainbow caught. For best results, Kirby suggests to fish early or late and to go deep. The two 15-pound rainbow planters (one is almost 16 pounds!) have not yet been caught.

KINNEY RESERVOIR, CALIF: A report that it is putting out limits of trout on salmon eggs, worms or Power Bait.

LOWER KINNEY LAKE: Chuck and Barbara Van Hise of Carson City reported they got skunked.

KIRMAN (CARMEN) LAKE: Rick Giser said a fisherman reported that he did very well over the weekend, while fishing from shore with Trout Teasers.

LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Shirley at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750) said, "Fishing has been phenomenal, especially at Beach No. 4.

We had a rumor of a 35-pound Catfish being caught. I can't verify it but I am trying to chase it down.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Will close on June 30 for the 2003-2004 cutthroat trout fishing season.

RED LAKE AREA, CALIF: Dave Kirby said that were light winds, good water and lots of fish being caught.

SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing, Redding, Calif. (800-670-4448) sent in this report:

Redding to Anderson: Fishing for rainbow trout is great with 15-25 fish days. Catching and releasing wild, trophy rainbows, up to 6 pounds. Using Pheasant Tails, Prince Nymphs, Caddis patterns and egg patterns.

Red Bluff: The King Salmon season will open on July 16.

SHASTA LAKE, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero reported that fishing is good with limits of King Salmon 1-4 pounds and up to 23 inches. Trolling with Shad pattern lures. Catching rainbows and Salmon in the Dry Creek Area.

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:

Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) said: "We've been catching our Mackinaw trout early in the morning and I've been tagging and releasing the smaller ones.

The fishing has been very good but nothing super big.

I troll 250-550 feet deep in the deep-water area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach.

We are using silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades with live minnows or large Apex lures."

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said he is trolling with a short leader, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows. Trolling 150-300 feet deep.

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore:

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said he is trolling in the Camp Richardson and Baldwin Beach areas with a short leader, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at 160-280 feet deep.

LAKE TAHOE - East Shore:

Gene St. Denis said that Cave Rock Shelf has been producing mostly smaller fish. Jiggers are doing the best. The Macks are running 1-3 pounds with nothing over 5 pounds.

TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields of the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): Fishing was really good last weekend.

It was good for boaters trolling about 15 feet deep with nightcrawlers at the south end and along the southwest side.

Lots of limits of fish 1.5 to 2.5 pounds, mostly on nightcrawlers.

The ladies really cleaned up:

Judy Eagle of Mariposa, Calif, caught a 4-pound, 15 3/4-ounce rainbow while trolling on the southwest side.

Olga Larson of Carson City caught a 3-pound, 10-ounce rainbow while stillfishing with worms on the south end.

Alice Oliver of Arnold, Calif., caught a 2-pound, 8-ounce rainbow trolling with leadcore line a red Apex lure 200 feet from shore.

TWIN LAKES, CALIF. AREA:

Lower Twin: The Twin Lakes Resort (760-932-7751): "Fishing is really good with everyone catching fish.

Power Baits, nightcrawlers and Thomas Buoyant lures working the best.

A 5-pound rainbow on Power Bait and a 4-pound rainbow on Salmon eggs."

Upper Twin: Mono Village (760-932-7071) reported that a California angler caught a 10-pound, 2-ounce rainbow while trolling with a 3/8-ounce weight and a nightcrawler.

A 3-pound, 8-ounce rainbow on Lemon-Lime Power Bait.

Stringers of pan-sized rainbows coming in on Salmon eggs, nightcrawlers or Power Bait.

Robinson Creek: Two anglers limited out on rainbows, up to 2.5 pounds.

VIRGINIA LAKES, CALIF. AREA: Rick Giser said both Big and Little Virginia Lakes were good for bait fisherman and fly fishermen.

A report of a 4.5 pound rainbow out of Little Virginia Lake.

WALKER RIVERS:

East Walker (Calif.): Fishing is doing very well, especially with dry flies at daylight or at dark.

West Walker (Calif.): It is coming into shape. It's getting better in Pickle Meadows in front of the Marine Corps Base, especially for the fly fishermen.

Little Walker (Calif.): Good for small rainbows and brookies worms in the Willow Flat area.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR NEV: Dennis Dunn at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472 said, "The weather is beautiful and the fishing is pretty good.

The road construction is at a dead standstill, while they wait for a piece of equipment and there are no travel delays.

NDOW put some more Wipers in the lake.

A 17-pound, 9-ounce, 30-inch Channel Catfish was caught in Hendrick's Cove.

A married couple caught 6 rainbows, (12-19 inches) on nightcrawlers and orange Power Bait.

The bass are starting to hit but you can't keep any until July 1.

Lots and lots of 3-4 inch Perch.

There have been some nice rainbows caught."
