A huge plume of smoke rising above southern Carson City this morning came from a controlled burn in northern Douglas County.
The fire was on the Dangberg Ranch near the marsh on the Carson River.
Agricultural burns are common in Carson Valley during the spring when winds are calm.
More controlled burning was going on at Lakeview by the U.S. Forest Service.
