Edward Eston Bowers, 72, a Carson City resident for the past 48 years, died March 18, 2004, at his home. He was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Easton, Pa., to Eston LeRoy and Alice E. Miller Bowers.
He married Patricia Faith Peterson in 1955.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Easton.
Mr. Bowers began working for the Nevada State Gaming Control Board as an auditor. In 1963, he was appointed executive secretary to the Nevada Gaming Commission by Gov. Grant Sawyer and was reappointed by Govs. Richard Bryan and Mike O'Callaghan. He retired in 1975. He was a member of the Kiwanis in Carson City. He enjoyed painting, woodworking and gardening.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas, in 1998 and brothers Edwin and Richard.
Among his survivors are his wife and son, Patrick, both of Carson City, and grandchildren Joseph and Patrick Bowers.
At his request, there will be no service. Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
