Man allegedly threatens Governor's Mansion

A Carson City man was arrested Saturday night after he allegedly threatened to park a vehicle full of explosives in front of the Governor's Mansion.

David Allen Clary, 47, was booked into the Carson City jail on suspicion of felony terrorist threats and bomb threats. Carson City Justice of the Peace John Tatro placed Clary on a no-bail hold.

Clary is suspected of calling the Capitol Police at 5:42 p.m. Saturday to report his daughter was assaulted on the way home from school. When Capitol Police didn't react quickly enough, Clary allegedly threatened to "pack up my SUV full of explosives and leave it parked out front," of the Governor's Mansion, said Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Kurt Davis.

"It would take nothing to blow it up," Davis said Clary threatened.

Carson City police traced the call to a motel room at the Round House Inn at 1400 North Carson St. where they found Clary alone in a room. They found no weapons or explosives. Davis said Clary appeared to be intoxicated.

Gov. Kenny Guinn's press secretary Greg Bortolin called the incident "unfortunate."

"This sounds like a person who needs some help," he said.

Guinn was in Las Vegas on Saturday, Bortolin said.

Clary will be arraigned in justice court Monday morning.

He was arrested in August 2001 on charges of false imprisonment and domestic battery. The disposition of that case was unknown at press time.

The Capitol Police are charged with protecting Nevada state employees and buildings and are under the supervision of the Department of Public Safety.
