Betty Kapoun Dempnock

A celebration of life for Betty Kapoun Dempnock, 75, a Minden resident, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.

Mrs. Dempnock died of cancer on Nov. 21, 2004, at home.

She was born March 6, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Anton and Anna Kapoun.

She attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, pledging Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority before transferring to business college.

Before moving to Minden, she lived in San Francisco.

She married Joseph F. Dempnock in 1961.

After graduating from business college, Mrs. Dempnock was recruited by the FBI to work in Washington, D.C., where she remained for several years before enlisting in the Women's Army Corps for three years during the Korean War.

She was a great fan of the San Francisco Giants and Forty-Niners.

Among her survivors are her husband of Minden; daughters Anne Marie Brakeman of Saugus, Calif., and Deborah Mary Duvall of Loma Mar, Calif.; grandchildren Eliot Joseph and Bettina Liane Brakeman; brother, Bob of Omaha, Neb.; and several cousins, a niece and three nephews in Omaha.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
