Carson City hit another record low Tuesday night, but an official with the National Weather Service predicted warmer weather for the end of the week.

Meteorologist Brian Brong said Wednesday that -1 was recorded at Fire Station 3, beating the record of +6 set in 1969.

"It should be warmer tonight," he said. "I don't think Carson City will set another record. It will slowly warm up through Friday and Saturday."

Monday morning, Carson City hit a record low of -3. Sunday morning the temperature was recorded at 16, which was "way above the recorded low."

In Carson Valley, weather watchers reported a record low of -12 on Monday.

"All three of my thermometers said minus 12," said Stan Kapler of Minden. "I left one alone, in case no one believed me."

Fellow weather watcher Julian Larrouy reported the temperature dipped to -12 in Centerville as well. Both places are in the lowest portion of Carson Valley.
