A memorial service for John Clayton Payne, 79, a Carson City resident since the 1950s, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.
Mr. Payne died Nov. 30, 2004, at Evergreen Health Care Center. He was born Jan. 19, 1925, in Greenville, S.C., to Marion and Mamie Ervin Payne.
Mr. Payne retired from the Department of Corrections after 22 years as a correctional officer. He had worked at the Albertsons store on Highway 50 since its opening. He enjoyed bowling, his grandchildren and was an old-movie buff.
Among his survivors are his wife, Carleen, of Carson City; son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Connie Silva of Lincolnton, N.C.; daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and Daniel Sutton of Granite Bay, Calif., and Karen and David Hamlin of Dayton; and grandchildren Lillian, Logan, Haley, Jonathon, Emily, Maciel, Cole and Isabelle.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory. FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
