Whodunit? Where? With what - a candlestick? A revolver?

For more than 50 years, armchair detectives have been trying to figure out just which one of the colorful characters killed poor, aptly named, Mr. Boddy in his stately mansion in the board game Clue.

Everyone has a motive, but only one of the assemblage of guilt-addled guests is truly homicidal.

Was it stoneground, mustachioed war hero Col. Mustard, in a hot-tempered rage worthy of his namesake condiment? Or could it be foppish, intellectual Professor Plum - he's obviously got something to hide, but is it more than just a thin skin and a bad wardrobe? Or perhaps it was the alluring Miss Scarlet, casual seductress of men - lax with morals, maybe - but how is she with a lead pipe?

The usual unusual suspects are all here, and one of them is guilty of foul play in "Clue, the Musical."

Starting Friday at the Brewery Arts Center, viewers will have a chance to play along as the popular murder mystery comes to life in an audience-participation musical produced by Pat Josten and directed by Robert Bruce with assistance from Domenic Procaccini II.

With more than 216 different possibilities, real detective work will be needed. But it's not all cutthroat and crime scene.

"It's actually a really fun, funny, funny show," Josten said. "And it's for a good cause."

The fund-raiser will help send students from the Carson High Performing Arts group to Lincoln, Neb., next summer to participate in the Thespian Center, a showcase for young actors.

"We've actually had a lot of kids get a bunch of scholarship money for college there," says Josten.

The talented, hand-picked cast includes Karen Chandler, Cathy Hearn, Jason Macy, Kevin Karp, Tony Windish, Andie Anderson, Tom Jacobs and Steven Andres.
