A funeral for Darlene Marie Thompson, 96, a Cambridge, Minn., resident, will be at 11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Paul Lundgren officiating.
Mrs. Thompson died Sept. 3, 2004, at the Grandview Christian Home. She was born May 2, 1908, in Blue Earth, Minn., to Lee and Josephine Dolan Coutier.
She married Theodore Thompson in 1924 in Willow River, Minn.
Mrs. Thompson was a cook at the school in Willow River and a psychiatric aide at Moose Lake State Hospital. After moving to Cambridge in 1959, she worked at Cambridge State Hospital, retiring in 1972. Since her retirement, she gave home care to the elderly and volunteered at the hospital. She lived in the Grandview Christian Home for the past six years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cambridge. She enjoyed playing cards and was active in several bridge and 500 clubs. She enjoyed cooking and driving, driving her own car until she was 88.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972; so; Maurice M. in May 1992; daughter Donna Stockamp in June 1996 and several grandchildren.
Among her survivors are her sons Douglas Thompson of Colorado, Ronald and wife Jan Thompson of Methow, Wash., Larry and wife Vonnie Thompson of Cambridge; daughters Marlene and husband Art Hannafin of Carson City, Linda and husband Ralph Hedberg of Beaverton, Ore., and Cheri VanSickle and fiance Dennis Sweet of Moundsview, Minn.; more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge is in charge of arrangements.
