YERINGTON - A unnamed Washington state man was killed and another man injured Tuesday in an early morning accident outside of Yerington.

According to Trooper Chuck Allen of the Nevada Highway Patrol, the single-vehicle accident happened at 6:50 a.m. on Highway 95A near mile marker LY-20 just north of Yerington.

The initial investigation revealed a blue 2001 Dodge Stratus sedan was southbound on the highway when it suddenly veered across the northbound lanes. The car left the east shoulder and struck a tree.

The 32-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Passenger Jeremy Botello, 31, of Yakima, Wash., was taken to Washoe Medical Center with "moderate injuries," said Allen.

He said the accident appeared to be from driver inattention and did not likely involve alcohol.

The driver's name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Allen said it's possible the men recently moved to Fernley and were commuting to work when the accident happened.
