If they have a way with women, Carson City politicians will get a chance to prove it Wednesday.
The League of Women Voters will host its political forum for mayoral candidates Ray Masayko and Marv Teixeira and candidates for Ward 2 Supervisor Shelly Aldean and Rebecca Beisenstein on Wednesday evening at the Carson City Community Center.
Mary Lee, president of the state and local chapters, said one proponent and one opponent of Carson City's ballot question on proposed sales tax to fund storm-water drainage operation and maintenance will also be present.
"Our role is to provide a nonpartisan platform for discussion," she said.
Lee said league members are looking forward to seeing Masayko and Teixeira present their platforms.
"There seems to be some contention this year with the mayor's race," she said. "There are different styles between the two, and I want to hear more."
Teixeira has been critical of Masayko's ability to court and retain big retailers and their sales tax revenue within Carson City limits, while Masayko presents a more fiscally conservative leadership style.
Candidates for Carson City School Board will also speak Wednesday they are: Joanna Wilson for District 1 and Debbie Dailey and John McKenna for District 7.
The League of Women Voters' Forum for Carson City candidates is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the Carson City Community Center Sierra Room, 851 East William Street.
Dave Cook and Barbara Myers candidates for state school board, Tom Grady and Cathylee James candidates for Assembly District 38 and Ron Knecht, Bonnie Parnell and Merritt K. Yochum candidates for Assembly District 40 will speak on Thursday.
