The Reno City Council last week extended the concession agreement with Tahoe Whitewater Tours for rafting and kayaking at the city's whitewater park downtown.

The business is operated by Michael Miltner, who offers lessons and equipment rental at the park seven days a week during about six months of the year, weather and water conditions permitting.

Tahoe Whitewater Tours pays the City of Reno $500 per month from April 1 to September 30 plus a per-person stipend based on where the individual exits the river.

During the inaugural 2004 season, the city received $8,746 from the concession.
