Perry Arliss Crosley, a part-time Carson City resident, died March 3, 2005, in Australia of a heart attack. He was born July 28, 1936, in Los Angeles. He was raised by his grandmother in Seaside, Ore., and, when she became ill, by his aunt and uncle, Helen and Alex Brown, in Portland, Ore.
He attended Alameda Grade School and graduated from Grant High School in June 1955. After one year at Stanford University, he transferred to the University of Oregon, where he obtained his degree in 1959.
Mr. Crosley worked for the Oregon Highway Department for 30 years and retired in 1988. He was responsible for buying property for urban freeways. He enjoyed working on and running his two antique cars.
After his retirement, he started traveling and ended up in Western Australia.
He moved to Carson City in 1998, but continued spending six months of every year in Western Australia.
Cremation and a funeral were March 10.
