Curry Village, two three-story buildings of nearly 19,000 square feet each, will offer mixed-use activity including condos on a two-acre lot at Curry and 10th streets in Carson City.

The idea, says builder and developer Tom Metcalf of Metcalf Builders Inc.,came from talking to people around town: "Boomers with big homes on big lots who already have second homes in the desert, but who would like a nice, secure place in Carson City.We thought, what if we took the top floor of this project and made it into penthouses?" The ground floor will house retail shops, with a second floor of mixed office and residential, topped by a third floor of strictly residential units of 1,750 and 2,400 square feet.

Each condo comes with a ground-floor twocar garage and storage unit.

Target availability date is summer of 2006.

The architect is Art Hannafin of Hannafin Darney Architects LLP, based in Carson City.
