Five charged in VC with methamphetamine use

VIRGINIA CITY - Five people, ranging in ages from 47 to 72, were arrested on drug charges after all allegedly testing positive for methamphetamine, an officer said Monday.

According to Storey County Undersheriff Bruce Larson, the group came to the attention of authorities when deputies were called to a B Street address Saturday on a report of a theft.

When they arrived, Wendy Hunter, 48, claimed a woman who stayed overnight stole items from the home.

While deputies were there, the suspect, Tammy Goularte, 47, of Carson City, appeared to return the items and an officer determined she was under the influence of methamphetamine.

Further investigation allegedly revealed Hunter, Deborah Lampe, 53; Barbara McManus, 72; and Michael Krivich, 57, had also been using methamphetamine. A search of the home and McManus' motor home uncovered methamphetamine.

Goularte and Hunter were both booked into the Storey County Jail on suspicion of felony unlawful use of methamphetamine.

Hunter posted $2,500 bail. Goularte, of Carson City, remains in custody.

Lampe, was booked on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and marijuana and unlawful use of methamphetamine, marijuana and opiates.

Lampe posted $2,500 bail.

McManus, was booked on felony unlawful use of methamphetamine and opiates and was released on her own recognizance.

Krivich was booked on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and unlawful use of methamphetamine and was released on his own recognizance because of an existing medical condition.

Larson said Krivich's 2002 26-foot Fleetwood motor home was seized as evidence, along with drug paraphernalia and a "large amount of cash."
