A memorial service for John Robert Newman, 80, a 12-year Dayton resident will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.
Mr. Newman died Dec. 29, 2005, in Reno. He was born Aug. 19, 1925, in Treece, Kan., to Harry Thomas Newman and Minnie McNeely.
He married Dorothy Armstrong on Sept. 29, 1944, in Oakland, Calif.
Before moving to Dayton, he lived in Carson City.
Mr. Newman enjoyed gardening and being with his many friends at the Carson Nugget.
He was a quality assurance specialist with the U.S. Department of Defense.
Among his survivors are his wife of Dayton; children Larry of San Jose, Calif., Stephen of Los Osos, Calif., John Douglas of Dayton, Bonnie of Los Osos, Calif., and Annette of Livermore, Calif.; grandchildren Brandi Rell, Jennifer Newman, Stephen Newman, Fred Newman and Jack Newman and three great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Dayton Cemetery.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
