Doors open June 1 at the Hampton Inn on north Highway 395 at Hospitality Way in Carson City, says franchise owner David Friedrich of Carson City.

The three-story hotel of just under 50,000 square feet will have 85 rooms and a glassenclosed indoor pool, says Dan Snyder, project manager

at Metcalf Builders.

The stucco and stone building will be light tan with brown trim.

Reservations will be taken starting April 1.

Friedrich and his wife Sheralee of Eagle Adventures came to the area from Florida two years ago to ski.

"We were disappointed with the lodging options," says Friedrich.

They hired consultant Bob Benton of Denver, who agreed Carson City scored a definite need for upscale lodging.

Hilton Hotels, franchisor of the Hampton Inn chain, said the location was good, so the Friedrichs bought a franchise.

Visibility from Highway 395 was a consideration in location.
