Construction on the second phase of Redfield Suites, which combines offices, retail space and live-work units, is scheduled to begin this month.
Dave Bjorkman Construction is the general contractor of the project at Redfield Parkway and Baker Lane, just north of the Sam's Club in south Reno.
The two buildings in the second phase are scheduled for completion this summer.
John Masquelier of Reno, who is developing the project with Kelly Pratt of Greenwood Village, Colo., said the first two buildings in Redfield Suites drew office and retail users as well as tenants who wanted both living and office space.
A portion of Redfield Suites is available for tenants who want to rent office or retail space along with an upstairs residence.
Pratt said the developers have seen stronger interest for office and retail space than they have for live-work spaces.
The reason? In many cases, business owners who are looking for retail or office space already own a home elsewhere.
Tenants of the first phase of the project, she said, include a number of wellness-related firms such as Northern Nevada Day Spa, Sierra Pines Chiropractic Center, Body and Soul Yoga and Spiritual Essence.
Other tenants include Essex Environmental, Phoenix Homes,Academic Chess, DT Workforce and SIRVA Mortgage.
Office spaces in the second phase of the project range from 110 square feet to 6,000 square feet.
Redfield Suites ultimately is planned for seven two-story buildings three more after the second phase is completed.
