Scott Scherer will join the law firm of Hale Lane as a shareholder early next year when he completes his duties as a member of the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Scherer will develop Hale Lane's regulatory gaming practice and participate in the firm's legislative affairs and government relations group.
Scherer is a member of the International Association of Gaming Regulators and served as its 2003-2004 chairman.
Prior to his appointment to the board, Scherer served as general counsel to the governor and as the governor's chief of staff.
He also worked seven years as associate general counsel and executive director of corporate development for International Game Technology.
A native of Las Vegas, Scherer received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore,Md., and his law degree from the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle,Wash.
