John Furman, president of Reno's GameTech International since September, left the company at the start of July.
He was succeeded by Jay Meilstrup, who previously was a member of the board of directors of the maker of electronic bingo systems.
In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, publicly held GameTech said it will continue to pay Furman's base salary and medical benefits for 18 months.
Furman also resigned from the company's board.
Before joining GameTech, Furman was a business lawyer and consultant in Phoenix and worked as president of Rural/Metro Corp., a provider of emergency services.
Meilstrup has 17 years of experience in gaming.
He worked as vice president of game development for Shuffle Master Gaming and was a project marketing manager for Bally Gaming Inc.
Most recently, he was a senior vice president with Niagara Falls Casino in Ontario.
Richard Fedor, president of GameTech, said the company made progress under Furman's leadership, but the board wanted a president with more gaming experienc
