New faces, new places

Wide-reaching changes in the executive suite at Reno-based Glamis Gold were announced last week, and the company said the moves reflect its growth into a medium-sized gold producer.

The company expects to triple its gold production between 2004 and 2007.

"This really is a new company," said Kevin McArthur, president and chief executive officer.

The changes:

* Joseph Danni, formerly senior vice president for corporate relations at Placer Dome Inc.

in Vancouver, joined Glamis as vice president for corporate communications.He's also worked for Homestake Mining Co.

during his 25-year career.

* Charles Jeannes has been promoted to executive vice president for administration.He's managed the company's administrative functions since joining Glamis in 1999 and was the architect of its merger with Francisco Gold.

* James Voorhees has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer.He's overseen development of Glamis mining projects in Central America.

* Cheryl Maher, the company's vice president for finance and chief financial officer, now will report directly to McArthur.

* Steven Baumann, vice president of Central American operations, retired on July 1.He worked 15 years for Glamis.

* Michael Steeves, vice president for investor relations,will retire July 31 after 30 years in the mining industry.

* Tim Miller was promoted to vice president for Central American operations of the company.

He previously was project director at the Marlin mine in Guatemala.

* Tim Haldane was promoted to vice president for development.He previously oversaw development of the company's El Sauzal mine in Mexico.

* Charles Ronkos,who's been involved in Glamis exploration since 1999,was named vice president for exploration.

* Eduardo Villacorta was promoted to executive director for Central America and will oversee governmental affairs in the region.He previously was general manager of the San Martin Mine in Honduras.
