Bessie 'Betty' Ella Flathers

Bessie "Betty" Ella Flathers, 80, a Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, resident for the past four years, died June 28, 2005, at her home. She was born Jan. 18, 1925, in Mulberry, Kan., to Alma and Ace Carpenter.

She married James Raymond Flathers

Mrs. Flathers was a professional chorus dancer and also a welder on battleships during World War II. She moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1961, where she worked as a keno writer at Harvey's Wagon Wheel.

She enjoyed dancing, bingo, poker machines, sewing, a glass of iced tea and her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Jimmy; and brothers Chuck and Freddy.

Among her survivors are her daughters Linda Banducci of South Lake Tahoe and Pamela Saunders and Rose Preece, both of Coeur d'Alene; sons-in-law Brian, Monte and Jim; seven brothers and sistersthree half-brothers; two half-sisters; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was presided over by her grandson Brant D. Colston of Carson City.
