A graveside service for Josephine Elizabeth Riggs, 83, of Nampa, Idaho, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
Mrs. Riggs died July 27, 2005, at her home. She was born March 8, 1922, in Pittsburgh to Guiseppe "Joseph" and Bernarda DiGrazia Garozzo.
She graduated from McClatchy High School in Sacramento.
She married Thomas Henry Riggs Aug. 25, 1940, in Sacramento.
Mrs. Riggs was a telephone operator in Gardnerville. After moving to Carson City in 1956, she worked for the Department of Labor Employment Security Department until 1966, and for the Department of Parole and Probation from 1972 until her retirement in 1979.
She enjoyed cooking big family dinners, bowling, gardening, sewing and get-togethers with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years; daughter Cheryl; and sisters Veneranda Scaglione, Lucy Crocco and Mary Hanawalt.
Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Jeanette Riggs; daughter and son-in-law Robin and Don Straw; brother, Joseph Garozzo of Sacramento; granddaughters Shauna Webb, Meagan Bath and Jeanine Boster; six great-grandchildren; and many extended-family members.
A celebration of life was held in Nampa.
Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel of Nampa is in charge of arrangements.
