Work is starting up again at Brighton Manor, a Silverstar Communities residential development in Reno, after water infrastructure delays put a halt to construction on the site.
"We were left high and dry," says Silverstar President Bill Miller.
There was no viable water supply to the 13.5-acre infill site at West Moana Lane and Plumas Street.
"And that was a total surprise to us," he says.
The site is in the middle of a developed neighborhood, with multi-family housing as well as single-family residential on surrounding blocks.
Those who arrived well before Silverstar got the water service.
Silverstar has contracted with Sierra Nevada Construction to lay the .6-mile pipeline, which will run up Moana Lane to tap into an existing line. And the hit to the project's budget? With the cost of building the pipeline plus the delay, says Miller, it'll be between $400,000 and $450,000.
Construction has begun on the models for the project's 106 single-family homes.
