Commercial real estate agents are interested in what's going on in Carson City, particularly with downtown redevelopment.
Andie Wilson, vice president of the Commercial Real Estate Women's Network, said Tuesday that Carson City supervisors Shelly Aldean and Robin Williamson will address the group at its luncheon meeting today in Reno.
"Most of our membership is based in Reno, but I personally work in Carson City," she said. "This is where I make a living. Everyone is interested in what's happening down here. That's why the group, as a whole, wanted to take a look at what's happening down south, in particular with the redevelopment of downtown Carson City."
She said the city has a comprehensive redevelopment plan that could be adapted to other cities.
The group provides support and networking opportunities for women hoping to achieve success in commercial real estate. Membership is also open to men.
Williamson said the meeting is an opportunity to inform real estate agents about Carson City, thus attracting some of their clients to the area.
"I'm going to talk about the downtown task force and some of the recommendations we had from that," she said. "And also some of the changes we've made to downtown and where we're going from there."
Williamson said new goals for Carson City's downtown include making the strip "more walkable and bring in more residential."
She said Aldean will discuss an economic vitality study conducted by the city a few years ago.
