Community Reinvestment Act data shows Wells in lead

Northern Nevada contributed a hefty portion of loans - 3,973 loans, representing $79.7 million to Wells Fargo's national ranking as first in loans to small businesses in low-to-moderate income neighborhoods for 2003.

Community Reinvestment Act data shows that Wells Fargo won its national ranking by making more than $10 billion in loans under $100,000 to over 420,000 business owners.

In Nevada,Wells Fargo also ranked first, according to Natalie Mitchell, vice president of Wells Fargo Nevada Corporate Communications.

In 2003 (the most recent figures available),Wells Fargo made 9,561 loans totaling $177.9 million in the state.

That accounts for 33 percent of total loan volume to this segment in

Nevada and was a 22 percent increase in dollar volume from the year before.
