A memorial service for Delbert W. Zumwalt, 85, a Wellington resident for the past 30 years, will be at noon Saturday at the Topaz Ranch Estates Community Center.

Mr. Zumwalt died March 16, 2005, at his home. He was born April 10, 1919, in Penngrove, Calif., to Edwin T. and Pearl L. Riewerts Zumwalt.

He married Lynell on Jan. 10. 1971.

Before moving to Wellington, he lived in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Mr. Zumwalt was a truck driver. He belonged to the Sertoma Lodge for many years.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He loved football and auto racing, and he was a Raiders fan. Her loved his horses and was a true cowboy.

He was preceded in death by his wife on March 2, 1996; son Edwin Allen in 1969 and daughter Barbara Scerg.

Among his survivors are his daughter Tamara Gray of Gardnerville; brother, Ernest of Sandpoint, Idaho, and six grandchildren.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory. FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
