A memorial service for Robert "Bob" W. Hellon, 78, of Gardnerville, will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gall's Catholic Church in Gardnerville.
Mr. Hellon died March, 16, 2005, in Gardnerville. He was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Torrance, Calif., to James H. and Clara M. Totten Hellon.
He was career Navy. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1967 and completely retired in 1972.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th degree. He volunteered at St. Galls as an usher and volunteered at the chamber office.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Hellon on Oct. 6, 2004, and both parents.
Among his survivors are children Donald and Cheryl Hellon of Moreno Valley, Calif., Suzanne and Michael Sweatt of San Antonio, Texas, and Barbara Bashor of Gardnerville; sister Betty Gouge of Garland, Texas; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville is in charge of arrangements.
