Donald Schmid has been named executive director of Hot August Nights.
Schmid previously was president of The Parade Co., a Detroit-based nonprofit that produces events such as an annual Thanksgiving parade.
He has 20 years of experience in management positions with DaimlerChrysler Corp.
and served as director of global event marketing for the automotive company.
Schmid has a bachelor's degree in economics and management and a master's degree in marketing.
