The Advertising Association of Northern Nevada will be passing out four awards this May, all honoring northern Nevada advertising professionals.
The four A2N2 awards are based on nominations submitted by the community.
Anyone can nominate people, says Kim Pryor, A2N2 director of press relations though usually nominations come in from the business community, such as folks in advertising or marketing, or those familiar with nonprofit organizations for the community contribution award.
Individuals or groups can earn an award in one of four categories: The Thomas C.
Wilson award,Ad Person of the Year, Promotion Person or Group, and Community Contribution of the Year.
The Thomas C.Wilson award named for one of Reno's original advertising executives is for a person who has made significant contributions to advertising and been active in furthering the industry's standards, creative excellence, and responsibilities in areas of social concern.
Past winners include Scott Mortimore, Mortimore Creative, and Valerie Glenn, Rose- Glenn Group.
Travis Lynn, former dean of the UNR Journalism School, was honored posthumously in 2003.
Neither the individuals or groups nominated need to be A2N2 members.
But nominees need to have conducted business in northern Nevada, either presently or in the past.Winners will be honored at a luncheon on Thursday, June 9, at Harrah's Reno.
Nomination forms are available at www.a2n2.com, and all nominations must be submitted by May 1, 2005.
