More than 40 businesses will showcase their products and services at the 2005 Business Showcase and Expo - and the Carson City Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for more.
"This is an opportunity for businesses to participate and present themselves to the community," said Larry Osborne, the chamber's chief executive officer.
The May 14-15 expo is at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. Booth space costs are from $350 to $400 for the weekend.
"It's a good way for new and start-up businesses to get some exposure, and for those who've been around for awhile to remind people about their product," he said.
The free expo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Osborne said that last year about 5,000 people attended the event. One of the door prizes is a $500 shopping spree certificate that can be redeemed at any one of the chamber's members.
This is the second year at the expo for Allen Rowe, owner of Northern Nevada Coin.
"I did it last year, and I enjoyed meeting people," he said.
His 3655 B Research Way shop has been incorporated in Northern Nevada since 1993. He came to Carson City in 1998. Northern Nevada Coin specializes in silver dollars and gold coins.
"We've met several customers there, but it also gets our name out there."
