A service for Richard Benson, 50, a Carson City resident for the past 19 years, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Benson died May 9, 2005. He was born Oct. 2, 1954, in Dallas to Milton and Dorothy Benson.

He married Gail Allen Peterson Sept. 13, 1986, in Carson City. She preceded him in death in June 2002 in Reno.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Winnemucca.

He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1976.

Mr. Benson was a range-management consultant with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management for 26 years. He enjoyed music, gardening and the outdoors.

He was an accomplished artist and played the guitar.

Among his survivors are his daughter, Stephanie Benson; mother; sister-in-law, Linda Prestilla of Carson City; brother and sister-in-law, John and Nancy Benson of Livermore, Calif.; and brother-in-law, John Peterson of Carson City.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
