A memorial service for Andrew Oliver Yanez, 77, a Gardnerville resident for the past six years, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church.
Mr. Yanez died May 10, 2005, in Carson City. He was born Feb. 8, 1928, on the Hobson Ranch in Santa Paula, Calif., to Freddie and Helen Carnes Yanez.
He married Hildreth Yanez in October 1978 in Fallon.
Mr. Yanez was a cattle rancher and retired in 1999. He was a professional team roper and also enjoyed team penning.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952.
He was preceded in death by brothers Freddy, Ed and Arthur and grandson Mark Allen Yanez.
Among his survivors are his wife, of Gardnerville; children Paula Curry and husband Hank of Gardnerville, Mark Yanez and wife Terri of Coalinga, Calif., and Drew Ann Brown of Cypress, Calif.; grandchildren Abby Curry of Reno, Jack Curry of Gardnerville, Staci Yanez of Coalinga, Calif., and Dusty Brown of Cypress, Calif.; great-grandchild, John Angeledes of Reno; and sister, Helen "Dolly" Adair of Santa Paula, Calif.
Burial will be at Aliso Canyon in Santa Paula.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
