Granite starts NDOT work

Granite Construction Co.

has begun work on $16.7 million in projects for the Nevada Department of Transportation at Fernley.

The work includes two bridges and one of the largest roundabouts in the western United States.

Construction of the bridges along U.S.

50 near the Fernley/Fallon interchange and along U.S.

95 at the Truckee Canal Bridge began this month and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2006.

The project will require 40,000 cubic yards of excavation, 80,000 cubic yards of dirt brought from other locations, 28,000 tons of plant mix and 4,000 cubic yards of concrete.

Granite's project manager is Jason Fenhaus
