Brandon Waterman was named to the president's list for the winter quarter at Seattle University. The list is recognition for those who have completed 12 or more credits at Seattle University and have earned a term grade point average of 3.90 or above.

Waterman is a 2004 graduate of Carson High School and the son of Randy and Yvette Waterman.

Dayton teen wins National Award

James Pelz of Dayton has been named a U.S. National Award Winner in English.

Pelz attends Carson High School and was nominated for the award by teacher Lori Haller. His name will appear in the U.S. Achievement Academy Official Yearbook, which is published nationally.

Pelz is the son of Lisa Kramer of Dayton and the grandson of Elenore Brown of Caliente.

Journalism degree awarded

Martin Greenstein of Carson City received a bachelor of science degree in newspaper journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, N.Y.

Greenstein completed his academic degree requirements at the conclusion of the fall 2004 semester and was honored at the university's 151st commencement ceremony May 15.

All-American Scholar named

Sonya Thuemler of Stagecoach has been named an All-American Scholar. She attends Silver Stage High School, and her name will appear in the All-American Scholar Yearbook, which is published nationally.

She is the daughter of Rick and Julie Thuemler.

The USAA established the All-American Scholar Award Program to offer deserved recognition to superior students who excel in the academic disciplines. The scholars must earn a 3.3 or higher grade-point average. Only scholars selected by a school instructor, counselor or other qualified sponsor are accepted.

Kansas State bachelor of science earned

Jamie Elizabeth Sylva of Carson City graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor of science degree.

Carson man receives St. Olaf honors

Sophomore Tyson Reed of Carson City was among more than 1,500 St. Olaf College students recognized for academic achievement at the college's annual Honors Day convocation on May 6.

Honor Day recognizes St. Olaf students who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.3 or higher.

English studies lead to nomination

Felicia Groso, a Carson High School freshman, has been nominated for a U.S. Achievement Academy award in English.

She is the daughter of Joe and Denise Groso of Carson City.

Oregon State honor announced

Rebecca S. Romano of Yerington, a baccalaureate, health promotion and education major, made the winter honor roll at Oregon State University.

Carson City students on the honor roll with a 3.5 GPA or better were Sarah B. Field, junior, nutrition and food management major; and Jessie A. Hong, senior, industrial engineering major.

Business student honored

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business Administration honored its top students from the 2003-04 academic year in an awards ceremony April 17.

Daniel Thomas Di Loreto of Carson City received the Clifford M. Hicks Honor Keys. He was one of only 20 juniors who achieved high academic standing in their first two years at UNL.
