A Turkey shoot at the Capital City Trap Range today will raise money for the National Arthritis Foundation.
Carson City Deputy Mike Fischer, who organized the event with Deputy Cody Dellabitta, said the event begins at 10 a.m. at 3590 Arrowhead Drive. Entry fees are a suggested donation of between $5 and $15. Participants get the opportunity to shoot at clay pigeons in a process of elimination. Winners in the different events will receive a turkey, pie or ham.
Fischer said a barbecue will also be held at the location with costs being a monetary donation and a bounce castle if available for the children.
Both Fischer and Dellabitta are participating in the National Arthritis Foundation's Joints in Motion marathon, a 26.2-mile run on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. In order to take part, entry fees are $3,500 with 80 percent going to the foundation, and the remainder toward travel and lodging.
Costco, Safeway and Weinerschnitzel donated food for today's event.
