Two hurt in Highway 50 crash

Two people suffered minor injuries in a two-car collision on Highway 50 East and Sunrise Road in Carson City, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Ryan Carlson, 22, of Ohio was driving a Dodge van at 7 a.m. on Highway 50 East when his vehicle drifted onto the shoulder near Sunrise Road.

Nichole Black, 21, of Carson City was driving a Dodge Neon and preparing to make a right turn onto Highway 50 when Carlson's van struck her vehicle.

Carlson was transported to Washoe Medical Center by Care Flight, and Black was transported to Carson-Tahoe Hospital by ambulance. Both drivers were treated and released with minor injuries. Carlson and Black were both wearing their seat belts.

Officers believe alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, and the investigation is continuing.

The NHP is urging any witnesses to the accident to call 688-2830.
