Thomas J. Gassaway, 84, a Carson City resident for the past four years, died Oct. 4, 2005, in Carson City.

He was born June 10, 1921, in Snyder, Texas, to Thomas Jefferson and Alvada Gassaway.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Indio, Calif.

Mr. Gassaway worked in sales for four years. He enjoyed football and he was an avid Redskins and 49ers fan.

Among his survivors are his wife, Virginia; children Thomas J. Gassaway of Washoe Valley, June Barnett and husband, Tony, of Garvin, Okla., Richard Mead and wife, Irene, of Independence, Ore., and Glen Mead and wife, Sandy, Elwin Mead and wife, Coleen, and Jeanette Glauner and husband, Dane, all of Carson City; grandsons Troy Gassaway, Travis Gassaway, Chuck Canant and Butch Canant and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be in Walton's Sierra Crematory.

A private service will be at a later date.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
