Members of the Carson-Tahoe Hospital Auxiliary are gearing up for the Dec. 3 opening of the new Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center in north Carson City.

The auxiliary's Gift Shop at the hospital is having a pre-moving sale of its inventory, plans are in the works to honor "Premier Patients," those who transfer to the new facility on opening day, and gifts will be given to the first boy and girl delivered that day.

"Premier Patients" will receive a basket with gifts including DVDs and a thank-you note.

The first baby boy and girl born opening day will receive layettes.

The Gift Shop offers a variety of merchandise including ceramics, seasonal items, candy, greeting cards, CDs, books, stuffed animals, toiletries and jewelry. It also boasts floral and baby items sections.

Halloween merchandise is currently on sale for 40 percent off, and many other items are being sold for 60 percent off.

The shop is open from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Saturday and from noon-4 p.m. Sunday.

Proceeds from the Gift Shop are used by the auxiliary to benefit the hospital. A recent contribution is a $13,000 battery-operated, eight-passenger shuttle that will transport people around the new 80-acre regional medical center. It will be driven by auxiliary volunteers.
