Two Santa Cruz, Calif., men were in Carson City Jail on Saturday after a traffic stop of their truck yielded more than two pounds of marijuana, methamphetamine and $3,000 in cash.
Ricky Raymond Jones, 44, and Jeffrey Scott Spencer, 42, were arrested at 1:30 a.m. Saturday after Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Salvador Acosta initiated a traffic stop for speeding in the 1400 block of South Carson Street.
"I detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the truck and could see roaches in the ashtray," Acosta said.
After the deputy detected the odor, the vehicle was searched, revealing approximately two pounds of marijuana hidden in a plastic container and inside the door panel of the truck, according to Acosta.
The search also revealed 34 grams of methamphetamine, a meth pipe, several empty beer cans, two scales and $3,000 in cash.
Jones, the driver, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell, trafficking a controlled substance, possession of marijuana more than a pound, misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs and speeding.
Spencer was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana more than an ounce, trafficking a controlled substance and misdemeanor open container.
Bail was set at $250,000 for both men.
