A Carson City woman and her toddler daughter were injured in a single-vehicle rollover Wednesday.
According to Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Matt Putzer, April Dornback, 38, was southbound on Center Street in South Carson City about 10:30 a.m. when she apparently drifted onto the soft shoulder, overcorrected, and flipped her 2001 Hyundai Elantra upside down in a rocky culvert.
"Landscapers got the baby out, but the driver was unresponsive," Putzer said.
Putzer said neither Anastasia, who will be 2 years old on Saturday, nor Dornback were wearing seat belts.
He said Anastasia didn't appear to be seriously injured, but had some minor bleeding around her mouth and some bruising around an eye.
Firefighters had to contend with a protective Australian shepherd mix dog that was also in the vehicle, before they could treat Dornback. The dog, Maxine, was released to Dornback's husband who showed up after the accident.
Both mother and child were taken by helicopter to Washoe Medical Center. Dornback's condition was not available, Anastasia was treated and released, said Alexia Bratiotis, Washoe Medical Center's spokeswoman.
Putzer said it's likely the woman was going faster than the 25 mph speed limit by the extent of the damage to the vehicle.
She will be cited for failure to maintain lane, driving an unregistered vehicle and seat belt violations on both her and the child, he said.
According to witnesses, the landscapers who rescued the baby from the vehicle left the scene before police arrived, Putzer said.
