John Listiak, 82, a Dayton resident for 18 years, died Oct. 25, 2005, at his home.
He was born June 11, 1923, in Lorain, Ohio, to John and Suzanne Elavsky Listiak.
Before moving to Dayton, he lived in Southern California.
Mr. Listiak worked in the steel mill in Lorain and for Hostess Cake Co. in Southern California for 28 years.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He enjoyed geology and gold mining.
He was preceded in death by his son John Eugene Listiak in 1988 and sisters Sue Marz in 1991 and Mary Profant in 2004.
Among his survivors are his companion Nancy Dresbach of Dayton; daughter Dolly Diane Listiak of Long Beach, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Susan Bonnar-Davis and Sam Davis of Long Beach, Calif.; stepchildren Mike and Jacque Walden of Lynn Creek, Mo., Kathy Pass of Dayton; Patty Schuman of Dansville, N.Y., Michelle and Scott Onslott of Dayton; one grandchild; 11 step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Inurnment will be at Harbor Lawn Cemetery in Costa Mesa, Calif., at a later date. Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Carson City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Dayton Valley Library.
