The Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce kicks off a quarterly speakers series on Tuesday with a presentation on the Sarbanes- Oxley Law.
The program runs from 8-10 a.m.
at the Airport Plaza.
Speakers Yaz Sharif and Brian Wallace will focus on the effects that Sarbanes-Oxley have on small businesses.
They say banks as well as major companies that rely on small businesses as suppliers increasingly are holding small firms to the Sarbanes-Oxley accounting standards.
Sharif works as a business consultant and as a volunteer counselor with the Reno chapter of Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE).
He's managed startups as well as companies that post $1 billion in annual revenues.
Wallace is managing partner of Grant Thornton, LLP.
His practice includes expertise in Sarbanes-Oxley, internal audit and regulatory compliance.
Future programs in the Reno-Sparks Chamber speakers series are set for Feb.
2, May 4,August 3 and Nov.
2.
The cost is $50 per event or $200 for all five programs.
