Downtown revitalization meetings next week
Carson City residents are invited to attend a two-day community presentation on the next stage of downtown revitalization. The meetings set for Wednesday and Sept. 22 are part of Envision Carson City, the community-wide effort to update Carson City's Land Use Master Plan.
Carson City's downtown will soon benefit from a variety of improvements including enhanced aesthetics, an enlightened parking strategy and most importantly, a pedestrian-friendly design.
People can take a "virtual walk" through 3-D simulations of potential designs for Carson City's downtown and then share their thoughts on each option. Topics covered will address existing property conditions, property boundaries, storm drainage issues, utilities, development codes, parking, historical preservation, sidewalk amenities, streetscape improvements and more.
Referred to as the "Community Challenge: Help Select Carson City's New Downtown" campaign, the meetings will be held at 301 N. Carson St. (Garibaldi's former location) on from noon-6 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday. A special "Reveal Ceremony" which wraps up the results of this intensive effort will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 22.
