Independent, Inc., a manufacturer of high-end residential kitchen range hoods for commercial kitchens and private homes, was granted incentives by the Nevada Commission on Economic Development.
Independent will be investing $5.9 million and plans to add six employees, paid an average rate of $17.35 an hour, says Kimberly Elliott, marketing director at the commission.
Independent will also purchase over $1 million in new equipment, says Susie Combs, incentives coordinator at NCED.
Independent has operated in Nevada for nearly 40 years. It plans to move from its Sparks location on Spice Island Drive to a new 35,000 square-foot building on Barron Way off Longley Lane in Reno, says Combs.
Independent ships 98 percent of product outside of Nevada. It's application for incentives is a direct result of EDAWN's business retention and expansion program, says Elliott.
