Royal Standards Minerals has filed plans with the Bureau of Land Management and the Nevada Department of Environmental Protection for a new gold and silver mine south of Carlin in Elko County.

The publicly held company based at Heathsville, Va., said the proposed mine on its Pinon property would be an open-pit, heap-leach operation.

The applications were prepared by Dyre Engineering Consultants of Reno and JBR Environmental Consultants of Elko.
